Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia in the early 1960s. Since then it has been taught extensively throughout the world and is recognised along with other therapies with a much longer history. The Bowen therapy moves are a form of gentle but precise tissue manipulation with space between them to allow your body to absorb the treatment that does not require deep pressure. These moves are focused on crucial junctions of fascia often named "the skin of the spirit"; muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerve pathways, blood and lymph vessels.
Clients can experience a deep and long lasting relief, even from long standing injury or pain. Often clients report that they have received faster results than from other therapies, even on acute injuries and long term pain. You don't need to undress, but loose, lightweight clothing is welcomed. Treatment takes 45/55 minutes depending on health concerns. During the treatment you may relax deeply, diving occasionally into a sleeping state. Depending on your level of hydration and the healing progress, you may feel very tired and sleepy after treatment. That's a good sign that your body's self-healing process is under way. Often there is a good result from one treatment but some injuries and pain will respond better to 3 or 4 sessions. Bowen Therapy is appropriate to use on everyone - babies, pregnant women, and the elderly.
